Research In Motion (RIM) recently showcased three Android applications that can be used on the BlackBerry Playbook. But the Canadian vendor that claims there are around 65-70% of applications in the Android Market that can be used on the tablet if it has brought their latest OS, BlackBerry 10.
BlackBerry Playbook's plan would be strengthened by the operating system BBX, or which will be known as the BlackBerry 10. The operating system is quite unique, because it has compatibility with Android applications.
"There are about 65-70% of applications in the Android Market that is compatible with the Playbook, while the rest just need a little change to be used," said Chistopher Smith, Vice President of Application Platform & Tools Handheld, RIM.
As the flagship operating system, RIM did invest some new features in BlackBerry 10. For example, native support of HTML 5 and the Android runtime envirotment who became one of the mainstay features.
"So little to be changed to alter the Android application to be used on BlackBerry 10. This we do hard for developers to develop multiplatform applications more easily," added Smith, on the sidelines of the BlackBerry DevCon 2011 in Suntec Convention Centre, Singapore , Thursday (08/12/2011).
BlackBerry 10, is said to be used on a whole range of products that RIM is coming, be it cell phone or BlackBerry tablet. It is not yet known when the smartphones that use the operating system is available on the market.
